PokerStars Launches New Sports Betting Site
The world’s most popular poker site, PokerStars, has officially announced that it will be launching a new sports betting brand, BetStars. The new site will also be part of the Amaya Inc group. BetStars will initially be available on a limited number of internet domains (betstars.com, betstars.eu and betstars.uk) but it will be branching out later in the year to include the majority of countries across the world. It will be available on iOS and Android applications also.
BetStars will offer a range of almost thirty different sports for customers to bet on, initially including football, tennis, basketball and a range of eSports. The variety of available sports will be expanded as the year continues, to include popular options like horse-racing.
PokerStars released a statement to say that they are “excited about the launch of the BetStars brand, and expect it to be one of the most talked about sports betting sites in 2016”. The Chief Executive Officer at the Amaya-owned Rational Group, Rafi Ashkenazi outlined that “BetStars will offer its customers a seamless experience between sports betting, casino and poker, with a single wallet for all three services.”
“We’re applying the same dedication and passion we have for poker to sports betting and intend to create an authentic, world-class offering. The BetStars brand will build on this passion and provide a safe, trustworthy and, most importantly, exciting environment for sports fans.”
Existing PokerStars members are able to use the funds from their poker account on the new BetStars site, a feature which will no doubt help the sport site to pull in poker and casino customers quite easily. BetStars hopes to reach around half of existing PokerStars customers. The popular function of in-play betting will also be available, as well as exclusive offers and promotions for new customers.
It is expected that BetStars will primarily focus its main attention on Europe which has a strong sports betting market. They’ve announced that they will be introducing a significant marketing campaign in the first half of 2016 to capitalise on the available European sports betting customer base.
