In the poker world, the first two months of the summer are always dominated by the World Series of Poker tournament in Las Vegas, arguably the biggest and best live poker tournament in the world. It has been running for almost half a century and it attracts the most high-profile players every year. If you’re not in a position to jet off to the casino city this month to chance your luck in a poker game, then there are plenty of great live poker tournaments happening closer to home. Even though the WSOP is taking over the poker calendar for the next six weeks, there’s no reason not to get involved in some homegrown poker events in the UK and Ireland this June.

The popular Grosvenor 25/25 Series will be dominating the live poker schedule with five tournaments across the UK this June. Players have the chance to compete for a £25,000 guaranteed prize pool in a choice of five UK cities. The Bolton tournament is taking place this week, from the 9th to the 12th June, with the London stop running simultaneously at the old Vic casino. In Birmingham the series will stop at the Grosvenor Casino from the 16th to the 19th June. Events will also take place later in the month in Southampton and Cardiff (both 23rd to 26th June).

Another popular low buy-in live poker series is the Grand Prix Poker Tour Mini, which offers a $50,000 guaranteed prize pool. It is organised in conjunction with Partypoker and Dusk Till Dawn, and has $109 buy-in Main Events taking place in a number of UK cities. Interested players can enter to qualify for the GPPT Minis online at Partypoker. It will be hosted by the Casino MK in Milton Keynes from June 8th to 12th, and then at the Rendezvous Casino, Brighton from June 15th to 19th. It will then be held at the Mini Alea Casino, Glasgow from the 22nd to the 26th of the month. Finally it’ll turn up in Bristol from June 29th to the 3rd of July.

Liverpool is the place to be for UK poker fans in mid-June thanks to the latest leg of the Genting Poker Series tour.

Other promising live poker tournaments across the UK and Ireland this June include:

The Bristol Rainbow Poker Masters Series 14 Rainbow Casino, Bristol (June 3-5)

Celtic Poker Tour Event Green Isle Hotel, Dublin (June 10-11)

June 2016 Super Stack UK Poker Room formerly The Vic, London (June 16-19)
